A 117 mile National Trail, which walkers visit from all over the world. We are the perfect stop off point and many walkers have stayed here over the years.

A 33 mile long canal offering canal boat rides, nature and peaceful countryside walks.
Powis Castle – 10 miles
Powis Castle has beautiful formal gardens, yew trees and terraces and is surrounded by parkland where red deer can be seen. The castle is decorated with paintings, sculptures and furniture and also houses the Clive Museum, which displays treasures from India.
Chirk Castle – 14 miles
A Grade 1 Medieval fortress, which includes state rooms, an 18th-century saloon, 5.5 acre gardens, wooded pleasure ground and guided tours March-October.
Erdigg – 19 miles
Erdigg was a family home in the early 20th century, that has been saved from dereliction by National Trust. Wild orchids, snowdrops, spring orchards, parkland, waterfalls and enchanting woodland walks await you.
Attingham Park – 22 miles
A 1785 mansion house and estate, with 200 acres of parkland and woods, a 180 fallow deer herd and walled kitchen garden, orchard and three delightful walks – the Deer Park Walk, Woodland Walk and World War II Walk.

Welshpool – 9 miles
A market town with Georgian architecture, Powis Castle and deer park, steam railway, canal, museum, a market and independent shops and cafés. The Owain Glyndŵr walk goes through Welshpool.
Shrewsbury – 18 miles
Charles Darwin’s home for 27 years (he visited Llanymynech too). The historic town of Shrewsbury is a charming town with a medieval street plan, theatre, impressive market, old prison for tours, quarry, river trips, shopping, restaurants and Shrewsbury Castle and Abbey. There is plenty for young people and families including rock climbing, bowling and arcade, axe throwing, 2 cinemas and trampoline park. There are numerous events there all year round, from Oktoberfest to the Flower Show.
Llangollen – 19 miles
Llangollen is known for its steam railway, festivals and canal where you can enjoy horse-drawn boat trips. The Victoria Promenade walk by the River Dee leads to a play park, bandstand, café and crazy golf. Thrill-seekers will enjoy outdoor pursuits including white water Slalom canoeing, kayaking, paragliding and mountain biking.
